This is an incredibly vigorous, award-winning Iris. These breathtaking deep purple flowers are BIG - 4-6 “ across- and are deftly stroked with bright yellow highlights on the falls. Blooming in late spring here in NJ, 'Black Gamecock' Louisiana Iris is , as it's name implies, a southern native but is surprisingly happy here. If sited well, somewhere with plenty of moisture and sun, it spreads into an impressive clump. I give it nothing and it is still a traffic stopper!
