This is a wonderful super hardy and long lived penstemon is more compact than other penstemons. . Lovely lavender-pink flowers bloom atop glossy, purple-black leaves. The foliage does leaves color up according to the amount of sun, so site in full sum for that incredible color. The basal clumps top out at about a foot, but the bloom stalks shoot up to about 24 inches with no staking needed!. It is also one of the most asked about plants in my garden. Not deer proof, but not their favorite.
